OUR PURPOSE

CONNECTING science
society

SciencEscape is a public-interest organization developing a new generation of scientific media with strong societal impact.

At SciencEscape, our mission is to bring science and society closer together using the powerful force of visual storytelling. Our action is built around two key objectives: transforming the audiovisual landscape to bring science and culture to life, and training researchers in scientific communication.

HOW WE WORK

THE POWER OF
visual storytelling

We design our own audiovisual projects, overseeing every stage from writing to production and distribution. This allows us to focus on subjects that are particularly important to society and bring them to the screen according to our vision.

We use our productions as key tools to convey scientific messages to broad audiences, exploring different communication channels.

All our productions are freely accessible online, on social media, and sometimes on public television, to ensure maximum visibility.

Our commitment also extends to fostering direct exchanges between scientists and the general public, as well as with students.

That is why a significant part of our mission is dedicated to the distribution of our work, through the organisation of interactive public screenings, school workshops, active participation in film festivals, and collaboration with diverse partners.

TRAINING

EMPOWERING
YOUNG
scientist

Throughout our academic journeys, we made a striking observation: future scientists — whether at bachelor, master, PhD or postdoctoral level — receive little to no training in communicating their research to the general public.

The ability to simplify complex concepts and make them accessible is rarely taught, yet it is essential to bringing science closer to society. This gap poses real problems: researchers often feel ill-prepared to address audiences outside academic circles. As a result, the divide between science and society deepens, leading to public disengagement on crucial issues and opening the door to misinformation.

Convinced of the power of images and narrative, we support young scientists at different stages of their careers — from the fundamentals of scientific communication and storyboard writing, through to filming, editing and mastering video tools. These programmes are delivered in universities, universities of applied sciences, and engineering schools in Switzerland and internationally.
