IN THE HEART
OF THE SWISS GLACIERS
Beneath the surface of the ice — discovering how glaciologists use cutting-edge technology to uncover the inner dynamics of glaciers.

ABOUT the film
This scientific documentary follows the work of glaciologists from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland as they use ground penetrating radar to image the internal structure of the Tsanfleuron glacier, in the Glacier 3000 resort (Switzerland).
Glaciers are essential for biodiversity and climate as well as provide in places critical freshwater resources. This research carried out on Swiss glaciers has global implications as the understanding of glacial dynamics and the technological developments can then be applied in remote regions of the world.
As climate changes drive rapid warming, understanding glacial dynamics and outflow is a critical area of research.
